Architectural Drawings
Hand-drawn studies of axial composition, perspective, material and landscape.
Two architectural drawings using line work and color at different scales.
The line drawing describes an extended sequence of courtyards and roofs. The colored perspective studies a building in relation to rock, water and vegetation. Both use line weight, hatching and tonal variation to distinguish depth and material.

Axial composition and line weight
A central axis organizes repeated roofs and courtyards. Perspective and the spacing of elements establish depth across the complex.
Denser marks describe trees and shaded edges; open paper separates volumes and distant areas. Variations in line weight distinguish foreground and background.
Color and material
The closer perspective uses outlines, color and hatching to separate building surfaces from rock, vegetation and water. Material contrast clarifies the relationship between the structure and its setting.
Together, the drawings compare linear and tonal methods of architectural representation.
Architectural drawing studies from Siyue You’s selected portfolio. The works are presented as drawings and visual observations of architectural subjects.
